Here’s a lovely little recipe for all you hunting fans out there. Here’s how to make a nourishing and traditional soup from a fox’s brush and the usual odds and ends to be found in any Dorset kitchen.
You will need:
- Water
- Turnips
- Cyder
- Fox’s brush (dried)
Add water to a large pan and heat. Chop turnips and add to water. Stir with fox’s tail and leave to steep – the longer the better. My grandmother used to start it on Halloween and leave it on the back of the Rayburn until Easter Sunday, when it provided a fine treat for a family of seven and some over for any lucky guests.
Serve with cyder (drink until insensible).
